Radius search / geocoding

For the radius search of our counselling services/examination centres, we use a geocoding service to convert entered postal codes into coordinates. This only happens when a complete 5-digit postal code is entered. The provider is Nominatim (OpenStreetMap), operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. In this process, the entered postal code and the IP address of the device are transmitted to the service.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a user-friendly radius search).
We do not use cookies in this context. To speed up the search, the result is temporarily stored in the browser’s sessionStorage and deleted when the browser tab is closed.
Further information on data protection by the provider can be found in the privacy policy of OpenStreetMap/Nominatim.
You can prevent transmission by not entering a complete postal code (for 1–4 digits, only local filtering is carried out).
